Living in Post Falls means you’ve probably got a few toys in the driveway. Maybe it’s a fishing boat you take out to Lake Coeur d’Alene. Maybe it’s an RV that’s seen more national parks than most folks. Or maybe you’ve got a trailer for hauling, camping, or snowmobiling. Whatever it is, when the season ends—or when the HOA starts sending those “friendly reminders”—you need a good place to park it.

That’s where we come in.

At Bay Street Storage, we’ve got two handy locations in Post Falls offering covered and uncovered vehicle storage, with plenty of space for your home-on-wheels, your boat, or your beat-up-but-trusty utility trailer. This guide’s here to help you figure out what kind of storage you need, what to look for, and how to prep your vehicle for the off-season.

Why Vehicle Storage is a Must in North Idaho

Now, we’re not saying you can’t park your boat in your driveway or squeeze your RV along the side of the house. But between the snow, the pine needles, the curious wildlife, and your neighborhood regulations… let’s just say things can get complicated fast.

Here’s what vehicle storage helps you avoid:

  • Faded paint and cracked seals from UV and snow
  • Rodents nesting in your upholstery (they love RV wiring)
  • HOA warnings and city violations
  • Wasted space at home
  • Break-ins or vandalism

And let’s be honest—your driveway looks a whole lot cleaner without a 30-foot rig parked in the middle of it.

RV Storage in Post Falls: Covered vs. Uncovered

We get a lot of RV folks through here, especially snowbirds heading south for the winter or locals who road-trip all summer. We’ve got two locations for RV parking:

  • 355 N Bay Street: Offers both covered and uncovered parking (you get your pick!)

  • 1011 E 3rd Avenue: Offers covered parking only (great for long-term protection)

Why Covered RV Storage?

Covered storage protects your investment from snow, ice, hail, and that blazing summer sun. It helps prevent cracking, fading, and weather-related wear and tear. It’s like sunscreen and a raincoat in one.

Why Choose Uncovered?

Uncovered is easier on the wallet and perfect if you’ve already got a good RV cover or just need a spot for a few months.

Boat Storage That Keeps You Lake-Ready

Boats are built for fun—but they’re not built for Idaho winters. That snow starts piling up in November and by March, you’ve got warped seats, rusted hardware, or worse.

That’s why covered boat storage is a game-changer.

At both our Bay Street and 3rd Ave locations, you’ll find covered parking options for boats, so you can keep your vessel high and dry all off-season. And if you’re more of a “just need a place to park it for a month” kind of person, our uncovered boat storage at Bay Street is a great option.

Need to prep your boat before storing it? Check out these pro tips:

  • Drain the water lines and bilge
  • Add fuel stabilizer
  • Remove the battery
  • Cover it tight or consider shrink wrapping

Pro tip: Make it a habit to swing by every couple months and give it a look. Peace of mind never hurt anyone.

Trailer, Sled & Toy Storage for the Off-Season

Let’s be honest—North Idaho folks don’t just own boats and RVs. We’ve got utility trailers, snowmobiles, side-by-sides, jet skis, and more.

At Bay Street Storage, we don’t ask too many questions—we’ve got wide spaces and easy access so you can park just about anything on wheels or a trailer. Got a trailer full of firewood? A classic car you only take out on sunny weekends? We’ve seen it all.

We Offer:

  • Covered parking to keep your trailer or sled out of the elements

  • Uncovered parking for trailers that can handle the weather (Uncovered parking is only available at 355 N Bay Street.)

  • Easy online payments and no-nonsense service

Pro tip: Make it a habit to swing by every couple months and give it a look. Peace of mind never hurt anyone.

Prepping Your Vehicle for Storage in Idaho’s Winter

This ain’t Southern California. If you’re storing anything through winter, you’ve got to do it right.

For RVs:

  • Winterize the water system
  • Remove all food
  • Disconnect the battery
  • Cover vents, windows, and tires
  • Use fuel stabilizer and check tire pressure

For Boats:

  • Clean and dry everything
  • Drain fuel and water
  • Cover or shrink wrap
  • Grease fittings
  • Remove batteries and electronics

For Trailers and Toys:

  • Remove snow or ice buildup
  • Keep tires inflated
  • Secure and lock everything
  • Cover or tarp when possible
